RonaDeck Resin Bound Surfacing provides a Lunar landscape in Scarborough
The ‘Street’ in Scarborough is a youth and community centre providing a variety of community and youth services for local people. Hundreds of young people were consulted during the initial design stage and a steering group aged between 13 and 19 were involved throughout the project.
The facility, which resulted from a partnership between Seachange and North Yorkshire County Council, comprises 3000 square metres of accommodation on four floors, with dance and recording studios, a multi-media suite, community café, climbing wall and sports hall plus office space for community service staff.
The pedestrian area outside needed to match the high specification of the buildings interior and exterior. RonaDeck Resin Bound Surfacing was specified for this area which covered 330 square metres.
RonaDeck Resin Bound Surfacing is a hard wearing, SuDS compliant alternative to traditional paving and has the attractiveness of natural aggregate while being easily maintained unlike loose gravel. It is also suitable for wheel chairs and is slip-resistant.
Ronacrete approved contractor Route One Highways laid the resin bound surfacing in a Lunar aggregate blend, this mix of black, white and grey aggregate complemented the building’s white exterior, providing a welcoming entrance for the youth of Scarborough and for any members of the community using the centre.
