Cemplas work makes staircases safer at Windermere Court
The Richmond Housing Partnership Group, which owns or manages more than 10,000 homes in Richmond and Hounslow, contacted Cemplas Waterproofing and Concrete Repairs Ltd to undertake a survey and provide a remedial specification and quotation to undertake repairs and specialist coatings to four staircases at one of its properties in SW13.
Having been established since 1969, Cemplas has vast experience working in locations where access to the public and their property is paramount. Working on one staircase at a time, Cemplas submitted a programme of works to the client and liaised with the residents to ensure disruption was kept to a minimum, and that each resident would be aware when work would commence on a particular staircase.
Work at Windermere Court commenced with grinders and planing equipment to remove all existing floor coatings to the landing areas, treads, risers and upstands. Once all the floor coatings had been removed, operatives dealt with areas of cracking and spalling to the concrete substrate.
Once the floor had been fully prepared, and repairs had cured, Cemplas proceeded by applying Vulkem Quick Half-Flake Coloured Coating System. The system incorporates Vulkem Quick Primer, Vulkem Quick Membrane, Vulkem Quick Coloured Sealer with coloured flakes and sealed with Vulkem Quick Clear Sealer.
Once works were completed to the delight of the residents, and to the full satisfaction of the Richmond Housing Partnership, the resulting finish was an aesthetically pleasing, hard-wearing surface providing a much safer degree of access as the coating provides a degree of slip deterrent.
