Cemplas helps get new self storage site up and running

Specialist contractor Cemplas Waterproofing and Concrete Repairs Ltd won a £60,000 contract for waterproofing work at a new Access Self Storage centre in Sutton, Surrey.

Waterproofing work at storage centre

Appointed by Harmonix Construction, the project was to apply Delta MS500 & MS20 Cavity Membrane, Drainage Channel, plus Delta NB1 cementitious slurry and Polysil TG 500 to the basement. Polysil TG 500 Silification treatment was applied to the concrete walls and floor.

Other work included applying two coats of Delta NB1 slurry to the upstands and a perimeter drainage channel including rodding/jetting eyes.

Delta MS500 was fixed to the walls with self-sealing plugs, and MS20 was applied to the floor and sealed to the wall membrane/upstands.

Delta Cavity drain membranes work on the principle of allowing water to continue to penetrate the structure but control it in the air gap and divert it to a suitable drainage point or pump. Delta Cavity membranes do not allow pressure to build up against the internal construction, and the air gap behind the membrane allows the structure to breathe and dry out. The membranes are impermeable to water, and gas and water vapour, thus protecting the basement internal space from dampness.

All works by Cemplas were agreed and signed off Harmonix upon completion, and a 10 year guarantee was provided.
