Cemplas guarantees work on north London homes

When Rooff Construction required a specialist waterproofing specialist, the firm called upon the expertise of Cemplas Waterproofing and Concrete Repairs Ltd, a company with over 45 years experience providing a full service consisting of planning, design and application of structural waterproofing systems for both new build, and refurbishment projects across the UK.

Shepherdess Walk work

Cemplas was awarded the £26k contract for work on houses and apartments in Shepherdess Walk, north London.

Providing a guarantee of 10 years, Cemplas operatives applied Betec Flex to the ground floor of the properties and apartments and Delta cavity membrane to the basement of the apartments.

Delta cavity drain membranes work on the principle of allowing water to continue to penetrate the structure but control it in the air gap and divert it to a suitable drainage point or pump. A cavity membrane does not allow pressure to build up against the internal construction, and the air gap behind the membrane allows the structure to ‘breathe’ and dry out. The membranes are impermeable to water, and gas and water vapour, thus protecting the basement internal space from dampness.

Cemplas’ experience in waterproofing was used to design the industry’s first Structural Waterproofing NVQ which is made up of practical work, and written papers, and since 1969 the company has worked closely with many Architect and Engineering practices that have utilised Cemplas’ in-house expertise to provide assistance and solutions with complicated design detailing, budget costings, through to competitive tendering.

Waterproofing membrane work

Cemplas is able to undertake basement waterproofing projects of all sizes, both for new builds and refurbishment projects. Using factors identified in the survey, such as the intended use of the basement, condition of the brickwork and proximity of water courses, a decision will be made on whether to employ a cementitious tanking or cavity drain system. For localised leaks, resin injections might be the answer, however whatever the solution is, the company’s CSSW qualified surveyors will provide the answer.
