Care Home Chooses Daikin Altherma Flex

A new 60-bedroom private care home has installed two Daikin Altherma Flex systems from Space Air to satisfy its heating and domestic hot water demands in an environmentally-friendly way and achieve cost savings.

Abbey Total Care Group’s Moreland House in Essex has been refurbished and extended to approximately 950m² over three floors.
The Daikin Altherma Flex is an inverter controlled air-to-water centralised heating, hot water and cooling system, capable of reaching high temperatures effectively (even at extreme low temperatures) as well as being easy to operate and exceptionally energy efficient. Two systems have been installed, each comprising one 44.8kW outdoor unit and three 16kW indoor units, along with one 300 litre thermal store and one 500 litre thermal store. Located in the basement, the equipment is connected to a traditional radiator heating system throughout the property.
The care home is also equipped with two Keston Gas boilers (installed by a separate company) as a back up system.
Moreland House Care Home required a system that could not only satisfy the space heating demand but also meet the need for higher volumes of continual DHW (Domestic Hot Water). Design & Construct Ltd designed and constructed Moreland House to be ‘green’ using renewable systems such as the Daikin Altherma Flex system that is projected to achieve significant cost savings compared to a traditional gas boiler system.
Space Air Solutions supplies the ‘complete’ Daikin Altherma range (with a watt meter to monitor energy use) and manufactures unique piping kits to ensure that each installation can be a replica of the next.
