Viacon UK is the country’s premier manufacturer of corrugated steel pipe and related products for stormwater management systems, tunnels and culverts. All systems are WRc approved. The company’s vast experience in stormwater management means systems can be designed and developed to meet the needs of specific site briefs.

Value engineered complete solutions are Viacon's speciality. Stormwater attenuation tanks dramatically reduce the need for manholes and pipework compared to a cellular crate system, so are extremely cost effective. With products providing an infinite variety of layouts, the Viacon team team are able to design and fabricate a flexible storm water management system that is simple to install and can reduce end cost by as much as 40%.

Stormwater Management

Viacon has been designing and building systems for storage and disposal of stormwater for decades and has built up an unrivalled reputation for the quality and flexibility of its solutions. Attenuation systems can be designed to Highways Agency loadbearing standards and a minimum 60 year design life. Choices include:

Attenuation Tanks

Built to a customer’s precise specification, Viacon attenuation tanks offer an infinite number of layouts using galvanised steel helibore pipes from 0.3m to 3.6m diameter. The pipes are made using pre-galvanised coil to BS EN 10143 for outstanding durability. Every tank is bespoke manufactured and includes all the required access shafts, ladders, inlet and outlet connections, making them the simplest and fastest system to install.

Gasketed joints are fully tested and WRc approved to Sewers for Adoption standards of watertightness. BBA-certified Trenchcoat polymer secondary coating is offered for additional years of life in aggressive environments.

Features supplied and fitted include flow regulators to restrict discharge to the specified rate; pump chambers to achieve required storage volumes and submersible electric pumps complete with control panels and switchgear.

Twinstore

Favoured by leading engineers across the UK, the Twinstore stormwater tank system uses Viacon's lightweight helically wound pipes within a lined excavation and backfilled with granular material. Rather than be sealed, the pipe joints are designed to pass water into the granular fill, so balancing water between the pipes and the backfill.

Importantly, Twinstore reduces the overall footprint of the pipe system. Water is cleaned as it passes in and out of the tank. Twinstore’s helibore pipe is designed for highway loading to HA standard BD12.

Chamber system

Fast and cost effective installation is a key advantage of Viacon access chambers for simple inspection and maintenance procedures. The galvanised chambers can be lifted entirely into an excavation thanks to an integral lifting ring with incorporated slinging points. The lifting ring is designed to remain attached to the chamber so installation is simpler than other chamber designs.

The chambers are available in 1.2m diameter as well as other sizes on request; all fabricated to order in the Viacon factory for stormwater management and drainage applications.

Culverts and Tunnels

Viacon culverts and tunnels made from either helibore pipe (up to 3.6m diameter) or bolted plate (up to 12m diameter) have been used worldwide since 1964. Available in a range of different profiles to suit the project, applications include:

• Stream culverts
• Pedestrian and vehicle tunnels
• Conveyor or reclamation tunnels
• Lining tunnels.

Pipes

The helibore pipes used in Viaon's stormwater attenuation tanks, culverts and tunnels can be manufactured in any length from 3m to 14m. It is lightweight and simple to install yet is capable of carrying full highway loadings and provides a 120 year life. A broad range of factory fabrications is offered, including branches, elbows, tees and manholes.

Also available is

• Perforated Pipe (soakaways). Standard length 7m but any length can be made between 3m and 12m with a gauge range of 1.5mm to 4mm. Fabrication options include tees, elbows, shafts and pump chambers.
• Trenchcoat Pipe. For aggressive environments, pipe combining the benefits of steel and plastic is available in lengths from 3m to 14m and diameters from 0.3m to 3.6m. A weather proof film gives protection against virtually all corrosive substances commonly found in most storm drains and culvert systems. There is a choice of secondary protective coatings including Trenchcoat Polymer, Monoguard Bitumen or Epoxy.

Barriers

• Road safety and crash barriers. Single or double sided barriers are available for road safety applications and rockfall protection. Crash tested to EN 1317 and EN ISO 9001.
• Noise reduction barrier systems. Low maintenance acoustic barriers meeting European and international safety standards, in a choice of aluminium or methacrylate.
