Types and Benefits
Stonework features on some of the most high profile buildings in the UK, but its beauty can become badly affected by airborne pollutants. To maintain the character and appeal of a building – and present the best possible façade if it is a home being offered for sale – it needs to be professionally cleaned.
Depending on the degree and type of soiling, there are various methods that can be used. In all cases, the aim is to reveal the true colour of the stone while doing minimal harm to the buidling structure and to be as environmentally friendly as possible.
Choices include cleaning with water only; detergent solution rinsed off with water; super-heated steam; acid washing and other chemicals; peelable latex films and abrasive blasting.
