Does a full sized log cabin need foundations digging prior to installation on site - if the site has had no prior preparation and is simply land/grass?
EM11
It depends on whether the structure is deemed to be a temporary structure or not. However, regardless of Building Regulations if you want your cabin to have a reasonable life then it should have foundations. Generally foundations are set at 1.0m below ground level so as to be below normal seasonal variations in moisture content. However, if you have a natural stone stratum shallower than that then it is sometimes permissable to build of the natural stratum.
