Nobody likes waiting, but the wait is more bearable if there is sufficient seating in an attractive space.

Public seating by its very nature will be subject to exceptionally high levels of usage. So any product needs to be supremely engineered with inbuilt longevity, as well as having easy to clean properties. Even with the highest quality materials, damage will inevitably occur at some point, so a system that allows easy replacement of parts is also desirable.

But sturdiness does not have to be at the expense of aesthetics or comfort. Much research has been done into how the environment affects mood and it is well known that people having to wait for transport or for a medical appointment will be more relaxed if the seating is attractive and ergonomic.
