Types and Uses
Foam tapes are used for a huge range of commercial and industrial applications to seal, insulate, bond and reduce vibration. They usually comprise a foam core, high-performing adhesive and liner and come in a wide choice of widths and thicknesses to provide practical, cost effective solutions within the construction, automotive and electronic industries among others. Special double and single sided tapes have been developed for the glazing sector and have been successfully used for years to mount, fix and protect.
Different densities and types of foam or rubber provide varying levels of cushioning, sound absorption or weather proofing characteristics and adhesives are formulated to suit a wide range of substrates. Tapes are available with special properties to cope with chemicals or oils, or meet flame retardant needs.
Pressure sensitive foam tape is pleasant to handle, can be consistently and evenly applied without waste and requires virtually no clean up. The ease of application reduces labour costs and fixture times.
Like other adhesive products, foam tapes offer a strong, flexible bond with many advantages over mechanical fastenings. They eliminate localised stress and their resistance to temperature change and shock improves durability.
