Types and Uses
Bollards may not be the most glamorous of products, but they are certainly essential in today’s busy streets and business premises.
Applications for bollards range from separating traffic and pedestrians to protecting property or holding lighting for walkways. They are made in a range of styles to suit different environments, from materials including stainless or painted steel, polyurethane and concrete. Environmentally friendly ranges are available using recycled materials.
Like other street furniture, bollards should be strong, weather-resistant and as low maintenance as possible. Often they need to be removable in the case of emergency, in this case the post fits into a galvanised socket with padlock. Some of the metal versions are available as anti-ram raid models.
Companies are sometimes able to produce bespoke solutions for customers, perhaps incorporating a logo or coat of arms.
