Is planning permission required for a self supporting balcony?
Yes, planning permission is usually required. I would also strongly recommend you have pre-application discussions with the planners at your Local Authority as to the likelihood of gaining permission, as balconies can be problematic if you have close neighbours. Juliet style balcony balustrades fitted to a window, however, do not normally require permission.
