How many times a day do we use a door handle without a second thought? It is only if a handle works loose, starts sticking or becomes worn and uncomfortable to hold that attention is paid to this vital component of every home, office or public building. Yet the choice of door handles is vast and it is well worth the architect, contractor or homeowner spending time taking a careful look through the offerings before specifying.

Aesthetics and function are equally important. Door handles need to be in a style and material to complement the property and the decor. Black ironmongery has been used for centuries; brass knobs and handles were popular in Georgian and Victorian times, with porcelain making an appearance from around 1850.
