Press Room: VMZINC focal point for Pimlico Academy

VMZINC focal point for Pimlico Academy

A zinc façade provides a striking feature of the new Pimlico Academy, one of the three sample schools for Westminster’s Building Schools for the Future programme.

Zinc facade at Pimlico Academy

The visual and performing arts college was designed by Architecture PLB and its focal point is an assembly hall with a faceted angular exterior. This was formed using a VMZINC standing seam façade in Quartz-Zinc® which complements the glazing and red brick of adjacent structures.

The project won ‘Best Community Project’ at the 2011 LABC London District Surveyors’ Association Awards. It replaced the controversial original building designed by John Bancroft.
