Tudor Celebrates its Jubilee with New Line of Tiles
Tudor Roof Tile Co Ltd, the UK’s foremost independent handmade roof tile manufacturer, is launching the ‘Jubilee’, the first of a new generation of clay peg and plain tiles featuring a distinctive blending of face colouring.
The Jubilee tile has a rich earthy face colour with a random darker staining, which is hand applied and kiln burnt to recreate a distinctive ‘instant aged’ and time-weathered appearance of a mature and seasoned roof. Additional bespoke colour blends from Tudor’s range of natural clay colours are also available to order.
Launched to mark the company’s 25th anniversary of manufacturing in Kent, the Jubilee tile offers the aesthetic appeal of traditional craftsmanship combined with the modern technology and performance benefits of a new energy efficient kiln.
With its variable tones, texture and camber, this attractive twice sand faced plain tile emulates the historic handmade tiles of yesteryear, making it a natural choice across a wide spectrum of new build, restoration and heritage projects.
“The Jubilee tile builds on the popularity of our existing Traditional and Conservation ranges, and has been developed in response to customer demand for a new versatile and multi-purpose line of ‘made in the UK’ plain clay tiles, which offer a greater blend of natural face colourings and shades,” said Paul Lythgoe, Managing Director of Tudor Roof Tile Co Ltd.
“The Jubilee is the first of a new generation of tiles, which will give architects, specifiers and home owners even greater choice and flexibility to add character, distinction and ‘olde world’ charm to new build and heritage buildings alike.”
A reliable, cost effective and practical alternative to second hand reclaimed tiles, the Jubilee tile is available with standard nibs or alternatively with square (or round) peg holes for use on traditional conservation projects.
The Jubilee is offered in addition to the existing Antique range of colours: Medium Antique, Dark Antique and Red Antique plus the classic Sussex colours of red and brown.
