Townscape Products Limited has recently returned from Counter Terror Expo 2011 in London with a good level of enquiries and positive response to its Counter Terror (CT) Blocks. Profiling this innovative vehicle defence system, Nottinghamshire-based Townscape demonstrated that CT Blocks have been recognised as the perfect solution at several UK locations including a number of international airports.
Townscape’s CT Blocks are designed to prevent unwanted vehicle incursion into a zone around a building or other secure area including busy pedestrian plazas. The installations are usually in ‘front of building’ locations and, while projecting a strong visual deterrent, also complement the surrounding building fabric and landscaping. Manchester, Cardiff, Belfast, Gatwick and Heathrow and Bournemouth Airports have all chosen to install Townscape’s CT Blocks (Counter Terrorist). The over-riding priority was security but the design of the blocks also lent itself to imaginative landscaping. Easy installation also reduced disruption and expense.
Produced at its Nottinghamshire facility from a unique reconstituted stone mix using selected aggregates, each block weighs 2.2 tonnes and has been manufactured and tested to the rigorous PAS68 Standard. Quartz-rich Cornish fines were added to the mix on some projects to provide a high quality finish to the exposed stone.
Townscape has also developed an optional extra to accompany its CT Blocks – the Anti-Bomb Litter Bin (ABB). The 70-litre bin has a simple, attractive profile suitable for interior use as well as exterior. As well as offering effective litter collection, it also provides a level of protection from fragmentation at close quarters. In the event of an explosion within the bin the walls disintegrate into a fine particle material. The concept, design and construction are unique to Townscape and it provides additional protection at an affordable price.
