Press Room: Sandvik Goes for the Klassic Look

Sandvik Goes for the Klassic Look

When engineering company, Sandvik underwent a major office refurbishment at its UK office it wanted clean lines and a strong timber aesthetic to keep tradition with the design of its Head Office in Sweden.

Bespoke manifestation

The project to renovate existing offices and meeting rooms was managed by Planned Office Interiors who initially organised a visit to one of Komfort’s many showrooms in order to showcase to Sandvik the wide range of partitioning systems available. Klassic Steamed Beech attracted immediate attention because of the strong veneered design and clean lines which were in keeping with the head office in Sweden.

Two floors were fitted with the Klassic system, with a series of private meeting rooms on the lower floor fitted with double glazing offering acoustic protection up to 41dB (Rw) and integral blinds for added privacy. On the second floor, bespoke manifestation showcasing Sandvik’s core values was added to the glazing on the breakout room area as well as more standard manifestations that comply with Part M of the Building Regulations.

Richard Simpson, from project contractor Planned Office Interiors, said: “Whilst the impressive acoustic protection offered by Komfort partitioning played a key role in the specification of their products, it was the aesthetic of the Steamed Beech that was the real driver. As the head office in Sweden has a very timber focused design, it was important for Sandvik to install a partitioning system that could carry this theme on in the UK head office.”

Paul Lewis, Key Account Manager at Komfort, added: “It’s great to see another project where the client requested Komfort’s expertise. Through our contractor, Planned Office Interiors, we have been able to rejuvenate this office space on time and on spec, resulting in a functional, practical environment for employees to work in.”
