Rockpanel Cladding Awarded Top Grades in BRE Sustainability Assessment

Rockpanel’s sustainability performance has been assessed by the highly respected British Building Research Establishment (BRE) and on the basis of a Life Cycle Assessment, BRE has awarded Rockpanel an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD). This confirms that Rockpanel’s facade cladding products are independently recognised as the most sustainable cladding material in the market and it is official recognition of Rockpanel’s commitment to sustainable construction.

The Life Cycle assessment conducted independently by BRE is based on International standards. The assessment determines the environmental performance of construction systems from ‘cradle to grave’. Rockpanel cladding systems were awarded the top grades of A+ and A .The EPD awarded by BRE acknowledges that Rockpanel products also have a minimum 60 years lifespan.
A product’s sustainability rating, based on independently verified data, is an increasingly important criterion in the choice of materials for construction projects. The BRE recognition confirms that Rockpanel is the responsible choice for facade cladding in every sustainable construction project, supporting the UK drive towards sustainable design and construction in both public and private building projects.
As a result of the BRE Global work, and listings on the ‘BRE Green Book Live’, designers using Rockpanel products in their sustainable building projects can now improve their sustainability rating in design based building assessments such as BREEAM.
Rockpanel is part of the Rockwool International A/S Group, which has sustainability at its core. The Rockwool Group continually invests in recycling and environmentally friendly processes at all its manufacturing facilities. Rockpanel products are made from basalt, a readily available and renewable material, ensuring that the product is sustainable from beginning to end. The natural raw material, the efficient manufacturing process, the sustainability, safe use, low maintenance and fully recyclable features of Rockpanel products make them a responsible choice for all building projects. Following the recognition from BRE, Rockpanel will continue with its commitment to improving sustainability performance across all areas of the business. An example of this is the company’s latest sustainability development, switching to the use of green energy for all its stone wool related production processes.
