P-Clad approved for high rise buildings

The UK’s leading brick slip cladding specialist, Eurobrick, has received approval for its P-Clad system to be installed on buildings over 18m high, having passed the rigorous fire test imposed for high rise buildings.

John Mayes, Managing Director of Eurobrick, is thrilled by the company’s latest certification saying: “The fire safety testing carried out by the Building Research Establishment (BRE) was intensive, but proves the quality of P-Clad. Having seen the testing process first hand, it certainly gave us a greater appreciation of why fire safety is paramount.”

“The potential for use of our system on high rise structures is something we have been very enthusiastic about, and now that P-Clad has been approved, we hope to see an expansion in the types of projects we can cater to.”

P-Clad was originally developed with new build projects in mind but is also a great cladding system for renovation projects, completely rejuvenating the exterior appearance of a building. It comprises a composite backer panel made up of cement particle (CP) board with Eurobrick’s ribbed skin bonded to it. The horizontal ribs allow for easy brick alignment so that brick courses are formed quickly and accurately. The rigid CP board is an ideal external sheathing material and can be fitted direct to the building frame. Eurobrick has an extensive range of brick slip finishes and different mortar colours to ensure a desired aesthetic is achieved.

Richard Haines of Eurobrick is excited by the potential scope for P-Clad. He says: “The Directors took the decision to have the additional fire testing carried out in direct response to our clients wanting to use Eurobrick’s cladding on their high rise projects. They wanted to be able to install a system they know and trust and we wanted to be able to offer our customers the complete package.”
