New five-year plan at Aquobex

In the month of the company’s 10th anniversary, the board at Aquobex has been focusing on the next 5-year plan and sums up their thoughts in this article:

Flood protection

The UK flood protection market is starting to mature 16 years after the first product standard, PAS1188-1 Kitemark, became available to the industry. The PAS is soon to be replaced by a full British Standard BS851188, and the launch of a Code of Practice further signals what should be expected of industry providers.

Whilst there has been too much focus on price over recent years resulting in product failures and bad outcomes for tax-payers and property owners, procurers now seem more receptive to superior and quality-assured products. Aquobex has been consistent about delivering quality and longevity and has the broadest range of certified products in the world along with 5 granted patents, for leading edge technology.

This autumn sees the first installation of Aquobex’s Floodguard Heritage Doors for Grade 2 Listed Buildings, thousands of which are located in flood zones, with no viable flood protection options previously. To meet further customer demand, Aquobex has also launched its Floodguard Reinforced Composite Door to complement its range of Floodguard uPVC Doors for the residential market.

Other exciting product developments include Floodguard Curtain Walling, Floodguard Enclosures for critical infrastructure assets, Floodguard Slot-in Barriers and Floodguard Glass Walls. With the UK market highly reactive to flood events, these product developments have however been primarily driven by the needs of the global market.

Along with these developments for flood resistance products, Aquobex’s research and development into flood resilient repair has moved the company into an industry leading position following a 3-year KTP (Knowledge Transfer Partnership) with Oxford Brookes University.

This developing portfolio has also led Aquobex into a rebranding of its product range to make it easier for customers to determine the best solutions for their needs.

Aquobex now has three product strands• Rapidam mobile flood barrier range• Floodguards property level resistant products• FloodRecover range of property resilient solutions.

With a developing overseas strategy supported by the only national standard in the world (BS851188) and a partnership with leading insurer, Aviva, it has come time for Aquobex to refresh its board with new non-executive directors (NEDs) to help drive this new strategy forward.

John Panczak, Nick Richards and Henry Clarke have served the company well at board level over the past 6 years providing good corporate governance, business ethics and strong financial & IT systems, through the past two years’ tough trading conditions. Many thanks go to them for helping develop Aquobex into the most professional and technologically-advanced company in the sector.

All three will stay on as part-time consultants whilst Aquobex searches for new NEDs with experience in manufacturing and overseas business development. Gavin George takes on the role of Executive Chairman as the company seeks this new expertise for its board.
