Press Room: New Eco Thermal Plaster with Exceptional Insulation and Acoustic Properties

New Eco Thermal Plaster with Exceptional Insulation and Acoustic Properties

John Newton & Company and Diasen present a new acoustic insulating plaster, Diathonite. Diathonite is a premixed plaster, fibre-reinforced with cork, clay powders and NHL 3.5 natural hydraulic lime.

Diathonite

Diathonite is both hard wearing and flexible, and ideal for internal and external applications.

Key Benefits of Diathonite Eco Thermal Plaster
• Eco-Friendly – with less than 2% inorganic material, Diathonite is the highest functioning eco-friendly insulation plaster on the market
• Acoustic Insulation – over twice the performance of conventional plasters or renders. Sound absorption between 600 and 1500 Hz is greater than 70%
• Reducing sound transference between properties – by applying Diathonite to party walls
• Thermal Insulation – very good thermal insulation properties. Thermal conductivity is 0.045 W/mK
• Breathability – Diathonite Insulating Plaster is highly vapour permeable and completely removes the risk of condensation.

Typical Applications for Diathonite
• As a 'green' product it is ideal for applying to Listed Buildings
• Can be applied directly to Newton Meshed Cavity Drain Waterproofing and Damp Proofing Membranes
• When applied to a specific thickness it prevents thermal bridges
• As a high performance thermal insulated plaster which keeps the room temperature constant.

Benefits of a Split Application
One of the big advantages of applying Newton Diathonite to existing properties is that the application can be split between internal and external application, whereas conventional insulation can only be added to the inside of the walls and so impacts greatly on the internal space. It is usual for the internally applied insulation to then have a covering, such as plasterboard, which further reduces habitable space.

By splitting the application of Diathonite between the inside and outside of the wall, similar insulation characteristics can be achieved with just half the space loss of conventional insulation.
