MP and Former Football Star Open Holme Pavilion
Holme Village Hall Charity and Holme Rovers Football club held the official opening of their refurbished pavilion recently. The opening ceremony was carried out by guests of honour, Howdenshire and Haltemprice MP David Davis and John Hawley (former Arsenal, Hull City, Scunthorpe, and Leeds player).
Rolawn, Europe’s largest grower of cultivated turf, supported the project with a donation of its Medallion turf.
Cllr Nick Evans, the Village Hall Chairman and Vice Chair of the Humber Playing Fields Association, described the project as a real ‘Team Effort’. “Volunteers had worked extremely hard to move the project to its completion and it was a great accolade to everyone involved to have our Member of Parliament and John Hawley do the honours. I was very grateful for the support of a major company and David was also glad to see big business helping grass roots efforts,” he added.
Also present at the ceremony were Adrian Morris from the Football Foundation and Graham Turner from the East Riding FA. Along with Peter Latham Warde of the HPFA, they provided invaluable help and advice to the project.
