Marshalls CPM delivering in a safe way

Although Marshalls CPM has temporarily closed its manufacturing sites in Somerset and Yorkshire, deliveries are continuing as normal with drivers keeping a safe distance from customers. There are currently no delays in deliveries.

Box culvert for water treatment works

The company is still taking new orders and aims to fulfil those which have already been placed. A small team of critical staff are working from home and customers can get in touch to discuss their requirements, obtain prices and place orders. For advice and support on the availability of products please call 01179 814500.

Everyone at Marshalls CPM is looking forward to the time when contractors will be able to safely restart work on projects using CPM solutions, such as the modernisation programme at the Davyhulme Waste Water Treatment Works in Manchester by United Utilities, which used bespoke precast box culverts from Marshalls CPM.

The multi-million-pound project involved significant remediation of previously abandoned land, followed by construction of six circular primary settlement tanks and a large activated sludge plant with 10 circular final settlement tanks. This work led to significant environmental benefits for the site, improving the outflow, and subsequently the quality, of water entering the Manchester Ship Canal.

Laing O’Rourke was appointed to undertake the modernisation of the water treatment works, which serves more than a million people, and turned to Marshalls CPM to supply bespoke precast box culverts. Graham Flynn, Laing O’Rourke Project Director, said: “Our ability to maximise the benefits of modern, offsite construction and engineering techniques was central to our solution, meaning that we could deliver this complex scheme in a live environment with minimal disruption.”

Paul Whyte, Marshalls CPM Sales Manager, commented: “Marshalls CPM’s precast concrete box culverts are designed and manufactured in both standard sizes available from stock as well as a bespoke range that is manufactured to customer specification, so are an ideal fit for a project such as this, as we are able to ensure the customer choice as well as durability, proven strength and the services of our civil engineers. Marshalls CPM is also able to offer BIM (Building Information Modelling) which was of great interest to this project.”
