LTA President to Open New TigerTurf Courts
ALCESTER Tennis Club's members are ready to spring into action on their new courts with their opening by the Lawn Tennis Association's president.
The four fabulous new courts have recently been installed by Chiltern Sports and are made of the very latest in artificial grass surfaces from Kidderminster-based Tiger Turf.
And, to launch the spring season, LTA president Peter Bretherton is coming to the Moorfields Road club to open the new courts on Wednesday, April 13.
Club chairman Peter Bostock said: "We are delighted with our new court surfaces; they are different to most other sand-filled artificial grass courts in that you play on the surface, not on the sand.
"The club has smashed its way through to serve up a match-winning £70,000 to pay for the new courts and now believes it has the very best artificial tennis courts in the area, so anyone interested is welcome to come along and try them out at one of two open events.
"The new courts are generating a lot of interest locally and we are delighted the LTA president will officially open them on April 13 at 10.30am."
To mark the opening and to let people try the new courts, the club's coaching team – Coventry-based inspire2coach – is running two free events.
Today (April 8th) the club is holding an open evening from 5.30-7pm where players of all ages and abilities can turn up and receive free coaching and take part in organised play.
Then on Sunday, April 17 there is a free open day from 2-5pm for players of all abilities, including complete beginners.
The great offer is followed with a 'Coaching for £1 per hour promotion' between April 18 and April 20.
