Knauf AMF support sounds great for Samaritans

Charity volunteers have a new space to work and meet visitors thanks to support from Knauf AMF and other helpful companies.

Group at Samaritans offices

Ayrshire Samaritans in Kilmarnock have been a support service for the local community since 1965. The branch relies on charitable donations to cover its costs which is why the team is delighted Knauf AMF, interior systems specialist Encon Nevill Long and Worksmart Contracts contributed ceiling materials and installation expertise to help refurbish the group’s new town centre office space.

Ayrshire Samaritans Deputy Director, Mary Connelly, is hugely appreciative of the help provided: “We are thrilled with the ceiling tiles, grid and installation time the three companies donated. Each branch of the Samaritans must generate its own funds so you can imagine how much this saving means to us, we can spend our precious resources on supporting callers. Our new office is fantastic; we now have individual meeting rooms, a duty room and a training space.”

Kieran Johnstone from Worksmart Contracts explains how the collaboration with Knauf AMF and Encon Nevill Long came about: “We were briefed by the Samaritans to refurbish their new office and we decided to donate our time to help support the charity. We contacted Amanda at Knauf AMF and were delighted that they, in conjunction with the Glasgow branch of Encon Nevill Long, agreed to donate Thermatex ceiling tiles and grid. This allowed for a fantastic office space to be created in a short amount of time.”

Knauf AMF Specification Manager, Amanda Connolly, is very happy to support the charity. “We recognise the vital contribution the Samaritans make to society and when asked by Worksmart to work with them, we did not hesitate to lend our support. We were delighted to work with Worksmart and Nevill Long.”

About 15,000 people contact Ayrshire Samaritans every year. The need for callers and visitors to feel that their conversations cannot be overheard is paramount. The duty room and individual meeting rooms are fitted with Thermatex Star ceilings. Thermatex Star offers outstanding sound absorption and sound insulation to help maintain a comfortable level of ambient sound to ensure volunteers can hear callers without being disturbed by background noise and improve privacy.

Encon Nevill Long Glasgow Area Sales Manager, Dean O’Brien, added: “We’re delighted to support the fantastic work the Samaritans do in the community. It’s vital that people can have privacy and comfort in a relaxed environment, and we hope that the ceiling tiles we have donated will help towards achieving this. Working alongside Knauf AMF and Worksmart provided a great opportunity to collaborate on such a worthwhile project. We look forward to building on this.”

The clean, elegant appearance of Thermatex Star is the perfect fit for the modern office interior. The ceiling tiles offer 88% light reflectance which helps create an airy, open and welcoming feel to the offices and meeting rooms. The high light reflectance reduces the need for artificial light, helping the charity to save on energy bills. The ceilings were installed using a demountable DONN grid system. The grid ensures the tiles are easy to remove and reinstate.
