Kemper System manager takes Trainer of the Year award
Kemper System’s Ross Smith won the Trainer of the Year title at the 3rd annual Liquid Roofing and Waterproofing Association (LRWA) Awards 2019.
The awards evening with gala dinner at the Titanic Hotel in Liverpool earlier this month was eagerly anticipated by the team at Kemper System, as the cold-applied liquid waterproofing specialist had been named a finalist in no less than four categories. Selected by an independent judging panel, including specifiers and technical experts, the winners and finalists showcase outstanding workmanship and technical excellence across the liquid roofing and waterproofing sector.
Kemper System’s Technical Manager Ross Smith, pictured receiving his award, has more than 40 years’ experience of the liquid roofing industry and has been delivering the company’s training programmes for 10 years.
Victoria Ramwell from Kemper System said: “There was a lot of strong competition this year, so we’re really proud to have made the final in so many categories. The shortlisted projects reflect the versatility of Kemper System’s products and the skills of our approved contractors.
“Ross has dedicated the vast majority of his career to the liquid roofing industry and this award is well-deserved.”
The Kemper System liquid-roofing projects that made the finals were the refurbishment of the roof of historic Stansted House, carried out by All Angles Roofing, in the under 1000m² category and the complex restoration of a ADM Erith food silo building on the banks of the River Thames, which was delivered by Capital Roofing, in the over 1000m² category.
In the Buried Application category, Chapter House, an impressive self-build home featuring two green roofs, made the final for Kemper System with Exterior HomeCare.
More than 300 people attended the sell-out event. Sarah Spink, CEO of the LRWA, commented: “In our 40th anniversary year, it was fantastic to see such an incredible turnout at the event and to celebrate truly exceptional projects and people.
“The winners are a clear reflection of how much the liquid roofing and waterproofing industry has grown in recent years. Spanning a vast range of sectors, the projects demonstrate how liquids can be effectively used in some of the most challenging environments as well as the impressive skills of contractors working right across the UK.”
