Heald Shallow Mount Blocker Fully Operational After Impact
Heald has carried out successful tests on its new shallow mounted road blocker. The Heald HT1-VIPER shallow mounted Roadblocker was tested to the new BSI PAS68: 2010 with N3 vehicle type at 80kph. It resulted in zero penetration and was fully operational after impact.
The HT1-VIPER shallow mounted Roadblocker has been designed for use in areas where deep excavation is not possible. It does not require a pre-cast pit and fitting is quick and easy. The unit is 350mm deep and the total depth of excavations is just 400mm.
The blocking element rises through 45 degrees and its raised height is 1050mm, thus giving a formidable defence against hostile vehicle attack. It is manufactured from heavy duty steel plate, to evenly distribute impact energy.
About three cubic metres of concrete are used in an installation and no reinforcement of concrete is required. The blocker is supplied with special levelling feet for ease of fitting and the safety skirt is easily removed for maintenance purposes, by two fixing bolts.
Unlike most other shallow mount blockers that require two hydraulic rams, the Heald HT-1 VIPER is designed to have one single, central hydraulic ram. Specially designed linkage bars ensure the hydraulics remain protected in crash situations and the bars make the blocker relatively quiet in operation.
The standard width of the blocker is 3000mm but alternative widths are available.
