GEC Anderson makes a stainless steelcase

The Farringdon showroom and offices of Steelcase, the healthy office environment specialists, features GEC Anderson stainless steel worktop. A 5m worktop with double sinks and recycle unit provides a cool and professional look to the tea point area.

The stunning stainless steel worktop from leading specialist manufacturer GEC Anderson provides a key focal point in London’s newest office environment showcase centre. The continuous worksurface provides a functional yet eye-catching solution that complements the latest in office furniture and fittings and design.

The made to measure stainless steel surface features in the café area of the new Steelcase WorkLife centre in Farringdon Road. The cafe area is a showpiece as well as a functional area that serves as an informal meeting point for employees and customers. The recently opened WorkLife London, created with award winning design team PearsonLloyd, is both the new UK headquarters for Steelcase, and an innovative space reflecting the global office furniture leader’s identity and its visions on the future of office environments.

Martin Tye, Managing Director of GEC Anderson, says: “We are very proud to be associated with Steelcase, knowing that our sinktop fills such a key role in the WorkLife project.”

Commenting on the WorkLife development, Mark Spragg, Managing Director of Steelcase UK, said: “We were looking to create a space that reflects the Steelcase identity and our commitment to quality and innovation.” Tom Lloyd of PearsonLloyd said: “The design of the WorkLife space represents a holistic approach involving architecture, design, technology and furniture.”

The 4,200 x 600mm GEC Anderson worktop has two integral bowls that are formed as part of the surface, eliminating any joins or crevices. Perhaps most importantly, the GEC Anderson stainless steel worktop is made in one piece, with bowls that can be positioned anywhere within the surface and that are free of joins that would be unattractive and unhygienic.

Martin Tye says stainless steel sinktops are ideal for use in office kitchens or teapoints. “Stainless steel is a visually attractive material and it is also extremely hard wearing. It requires minimal effort to maintain the highest standards of surface hygiene and a good appearance.”
