Forticrete pushed to the limit to help raise money for charities
As part of the team ‘Roofing Racers’, staff from Forticrete, the UK’s leading manufacturer of concrete construction products, has helped to raise over £37,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support and Great Ormond Street Hospital after they took part in the world’s largest and most iconic triathlon, the gruelling AJ Bell London Triathlon (8 - 9 August).
The Roofing Racers, which was made up of competitors from all walks of the roofing, roofline and window industries, included three Forticrete staff. They completed the daunting ‘Sprint’ triathlon which included a 750m swim of the River Thames, a 20km bike ride and a 5km run around London’s Docklands.
Supported and sponsored by colleagues, family, friends and suppliers, Forticrete Customer Services Administrator Lisa Pygall won the ‘Under 25s’ category after completing the triathlon in a staggering two hours, seven minutes and thirty three seconds.
John Lambert, general manager at Forticrete, commented: “We are over the moon with the effort put in by everyone – it was a great day and a lot of fun was had by everyone involved.
“To raise such a tremendous amount of money is an absolutely fantastic achievement, especially with it going to such a worthwhile cause. We are extremely grateful to each and every member of the team that took part and the overwhelming support of those that sponsored us.”
As well as Lisa, other Forticrete employees who took part were: Kevin Higby - Southern Field Sales Manager, and Lesley Pygall - Customer Services Manager.
