ESF designs magical Moana benches for Disney in Hong Kong Park
Environmental Street Furniture (ESF), a leading innovator in sustainable and bespoke street furniture solutions, is thrilled to announce its collaboration with Disney Imagineers for the creation and supply of custom benches for the latest stage show, 'Moana,' opening in the heart of Hong Kong Park.
ESF was approached by Disney Imagineers to design and manufacture benches that not only met the aesthetic requirements of looking like real wood but also adhered to Disney's commitment to environmental sustainability by avoiding the use of actual wood.
Working diligently through the design brief, ESF engineers crafted benches with a detailed honeycomb internal support structure, ensuring durability and strength while eliminating the need for traditional wooden materials. The team also applied a custom paint finish on the fibre resin to achieve a remarkably realistic 'wood-like' appearance, all while maintaining low maintenance requirements.
One of the primary challenges addressed by ESF was to create a seamless design with hidden internal fixings, eliminating any trip hazards and preserving the enchanting atmosphere of the 'Moana' stage show. The incorporation of these features not only met safety standards but also contributed to the overall magical experience for the attendees.
To cater to the diverse audience, ESF developed both adult-sized and child-sized benches, providing a comfortable and accessible viewing area for all guests attending the show. With 'Moana' running five times daily, ESF's commitment to inclusivity and comfort ensures that every spectator can fully enjoy the spectacle.
In total, ESF supplied over 100 custom benches to this fantastic and magical project. The success of this collaboration reflects ESF's dedication to pushing the boundaries of sustainable design and innovation in the realm of street furniture.
