Elfin Kitchens adds value to Victorian property refurbs
Thirty of Elfin Kitchens’ all-in-one compact kitchens have been installed at four Victorian refurbishment projects, helping to transform the tired, old properties into stylish rental accommodation for the professionals of Poole in Dorset.
When property developers Sally and Kevin Martin embarked on the refurbishment and reformatting of their first three-storey Victorian townhouse in to a Housing with Multiple Occupancy (HMO) property, they were looking to create a high specification finish.
Keen sailing enthusiasts, with experience of squeezing facilities in to a small space, the couple had a definite vision for the refurbishment of the kitchen areas. They wanted to add as much value and provide as many facilities as possible, in what effectively is a relatively small space. They just weren’t sure if such a solution could be easily achieved, until they came across Elfin Kitchens and were shown a sample kitchen by Elfin’s managing director Bob Andrew.
Space-efficient at 1000mm wide, the all-in-one kitchens specified by the couple are from Elfin’s standard range, and are built entirely of white powder coated steel with steel door and drawer furniture, slim foam filled doors and drawer fronts with a self-closing drawer action.
Each kitchen features a stainless-steel sink and drainer, monobloc tap, two hotplates with 30-minute safety timer, a 20 ltr combi oven and grill, an A+ rated fridge with freezer compartment and two drawers for storage.
The couple explain why they chose Elfin: “Apart from the fact that the kitchens are prebuilt, which makes installation easy, we really like that for each apartment we can offer our tenants the high-quality kitchen facilities they demand with units that slot perfectly in to small spaces allowing us to maximise space in each apartment. All we have to do from a first fix point of view is ensure plumbing for the tap and sink waste and plug sockets are in place.
