Cibes lift makes ancient church accessible to all
People returning to a Cumbrian church for services or community activities are able to access facilities on all levels thanks to a Cibes lift.
The Cibes A5000 lift was installed in Kirkby Stephen Parish Church, which holds services for both the Anglican and Roman Catholic population of Kirkby Stephen, as well as providing events to support the community of all faiths.
The church has a rich history and though its exact age is unknown, carved stones lay under the tower arch dating back to the Saxon and Viking times. The most famous being one showing a bound, bearded devil who may represent the Norse god Loki.
Known as the Cathedral of the Dales, the building has fine stained glass and other features of historical interest and is a popular attraction for visitors to the area as well as regular users. Thanks to the 21st century addition of a smart and space-saving Cibes A5000 lift, people of all abilities can access the church’s facilities.
