Cibes engineers get pupils on the move again
A primary school in Plymouth was able to rapidly restore accessibility for its pupils after being advised to get in touch with Cibes Lift UK.
Marine Academy’s previous lift had failed and attempts to get it fixed had led to frustration until a parent of a pupil, who worked for Cibes, recommended an assessment.
Alex Bettinson, Site Manager at Marine Academy Plymouth, said: “The previous primary school lift was a unique platform lift that had failed, which resulted in a variety of lift companies assessing the situation but did not understand what was needed and made it worse.
“The Cibes engineers, Rikki and Trevor, were very professional and knowledgeable of what needed to be done, they recommended that a new lift was needed to replace the old one and carried out the installation in just two days.”
A Cibes A5000 platform lift was chosen to go in the existing lift space. Being very user-friendly and safe, it is a popular lift solution for schools and day-care centres. The lift can hold a weight of 400kg and is installed with fire doors that comply with safety requirements for most public and commercial buildings.
Rikki Lennon, Technical Support and Service Engineer at Cibes, said: “The Cibes A5000 standard platform lift fitted in the footprint easily and worked out cost-effective for the academy, by installing a new lift with a warranty, rather than fixing the previous one.
“It was great to create reliable access for pupils with disabilities in the school and seeing the children enjoy watching the work that we carried out.”
Alex continued: “I know that we will use Cibes again as it was brilliant working with the team, and I would recommend them to anyone.”
