Cemplas waterproofing work on Olympia dome keeps visitors dry
Visitors to the iconic Olympia Exhibition Centre, known across the world, are being kept dry thanks to waterproofing work by specialists Cemplas.

The most recent project was the second phase of specialist work at Olympia and involved waterproofing the original glazed dome roof above the exhibition hall, which has leaked over the years and was due to be completely re-glazed at an enormous cost. Working closely with Olympia’s own in-house structural engineers and surveyors, Cemplas provided a specification and method for a cost-effective solution to apply a resin based ‘clear’ system over the glazed sections and glazing bars and re-glaze all the diamond segments, alongside chemical stripping of the steel beams and then repainting.
Many of the projects undertaken at Olympia have had demanding access issues and in this instance, Cemplas developed its own access arrangements by providing a scaffold which was built up from within the Exhibition Hall and cantilevered out.
In the first phase of these works, Cemplas had applied a waterproof coating over the venue’s 60-year-old asphalt flat roof.
