Cemplas repairs are successful in all directions

A contract to repair one elevation of a large building undergoing refurbishment led to instructions for repairs on a different elevation, plus undertaking of other works, after the principal contractor was delighted with the performance of Cemplas Waterproofing and Concrete Repairs Ltd’s team.

Cemplas was first asked to by John Sisk & Son Ltd to inspect the facade of the East elevation of the Old Street building and provide a method or repair together with costs. Following the survey, the proposal and quotation provided by Cemplas was accepted, and the contract to undertake work to the east elevation was awarded.
Work commenced with removal of the existing bitumen coatings from the façade, using Resin Buster products combined with high pressure jet washing. This was followed by remedial repairs using Fosroc specialist repair products, to tackle the defective areas of the building’s beams and columns that had been highlighted by the Cemplas survey.
Once the repairs had fully cured, further black protective coatings were applied to the façade’s columns and beams. These provided a contrast to the lighter coloured in situ brick infills and pre-cast panels.
Due to the quality of Cemplas’s work on the East elevation, principal contractor John Sisk & Son asked Cemplas to survey the West elevation. A further instruction was given to undertake the same specification of works on this other face of the building.
In addition to remedial concrete repairs on the East and West elevations, Cemplas also received further instructions to undertake numerous internal concrete repair packages to the lift lobby areas, staircases and soffits. The overall contract value came to £150,000.

John Sisk & Son Ltd was delighted that all works undertaken by Cemplas were to a high standard, and to their complete satisfaction.
