Bryn Thomas Crane Hire introduces versatile newcomer

Bryn Thomas Crane Hire has announced the arrival of its newest and most versatile crane yet – the Liebherr LTM 1090-4.2.

The company has had a long and sturdy relationship with Liebherr for many years now, having obtained reliable cranes from them in the past such as the 500t Liebherr LTM 1500.8.1 and the 130t Liebherr LTM 1130.5.1. This new heavy-duty mobile crane brings together high performance and low costs.
The LTM 1090-4.2 is seen as an excellent ‘all-rounder’. It is designed for different driving situations and crane operations of any size. The crane operates with a fast-changing system when in transit, allowing it to adapt quickly to various driving conditions – whether that’s driving through a construction site or difficult terrain such as rocky ground and sand dunes – there will be no problems.
It includes a variable steering concept for improved manoeuvrability, and benefits from integrated storage areas – great for carrying daily operation essentials like tools and equipment.
Features of this crane include a telescopic boom that can reach 197 feet and hoist heights of 249 feet. The maximum load is an amazing 90 tonnes and it can handle between 10 and 16 tons in terms of axle load when it’s driven. Being able to carry so much weight in one go makes the LTM 1090-4.2 extremely efficient.
The crane’s VarioBallast allows it to turn and carry weights up to its maximum lifting capacity with a bigger ballast radius, plus a smaller radius option is also available for more restricted working environments.
Major benefits are its low fuel consumption and reduced noise levels. The automatic regulation of the crane’s engine speed, whilst in crane mode, reduces fuel consumption by approximately 10%. The driving strategy of the ZF-TraXon transmission is also improved thanks to the new ECOdrive – with ECO or Powermode – that is incorporated into the carrier. This reduces fuel consumption and noise, causing less disturbance to nearby offices and homes.
The equipment included with the Liebherr LTM 1090-4.2 comprises the essentials for the crane to function accordingly. Sections which require equipment include:
* Crane carrier – Equipment such as outriggers, axles, a cardan shaft, brakes and a driver’s cab.
* Crane superstructure – Equipment such as a telescopic boom, hoist gear, luffing gear, slewing gear and crane drive.
* Operating modes – Equipment such as a double swing-away jib, an erection jib and a hydraulically adjustable swing-away jib.
