Boat party marks Newton 170th birthday and Family Business Award success
Newton Waterproofing is celebrating its 170th year and kicked off the party by taking guests including contractors, architects, engineers, specifiers and Newton Specialist Basement Contractors on a boat trip along the Thames.
The cruise aboard the Thames Leisure riverboat the William B went from Westminster Pier to Putney – giving guests a riverside view of some of the iconic and historic buildings Newton and clients have worked on together designing and installing waterproofing solutions over the years.
Chairman Christopher Newton welcomed everyone with a few words, reminding them that the company has not lost sight of the values of its family beginnings or its independence, and it is this autonomy that allows the company to continually stand out from its competitors: “I have always been proud to say that Newton is a family-run company, with a strong ethos that provides the foundation for the 21st century company. Alongside our independence this grants us complete impartiality and a valuable freedom, allowing us to grow and improve whilst consistently offering the highest levels of service and sourcing new and innovative solutions.”
It was a fitting night to win the Family Business of the Year category in The Times Business Awards, run by The Times Local News. The awards, open to all businesses large and small, recognise and celebrate the wealth of talent in the local area around Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells. More than 200 people attended the final, where awards were handed out by former minister and celebrity traveller Michael Portillo.
All at Newton Waterproofing are very proud of their achievements, family leadership and hardworking team.
