Ark Lighting low energy products give lift to Sheffield improvements
The public realm of 'The Moor' Sheffield has been upgraded and re-landscaped as part of the ongoing improvements to Sheffield's city by Scottish Widows Investment Partnership Property Trust and Sheffield City Council.
Ark Lighting was selected ahead of the competition to provide a dynamic low energy lighting system for the bench and tree lighting.
The benches use Ark Lighting’s slimline linear LED system which is linked back to a centrally mounted DMX generator, providing the flexibility to choose colours or scenes to match with seasons or local events. The under bench lighting gives the granite benches the sense of them floating on a colour changing curtain of light.
The foliage of the tree canopies is illuminated with Ark Lighting’s Canon Uplighters. These LED uplighters add accent to the newly planted trees which were filled with twinkly white LED light.
Key points of the scheme:
- Low energy solution to be used, so LED was selected
- Synchronised colour changing light, DMX was selected
- Discreet fixtures (Slimline Linear LED & Canon 24 Uplighters).
The project has been well received:
Kerri Hunter, Deputy Fund Manager, SWIPPT, said: “2013 has been a landmark year and the people of Sheffield can now see and experience the positive changes. The Moor development will revitalise Sheffield city centre providing a quality retail & leisure environment as well as an evening economy and that will increase dwell time and extend shopping hours.”
Cllr Leigh Bramall, Cabinet Member for Business Skills & Development, added: “We’ve reached a major milestone in the regeneration of The Moor and it is good for the people of Sheffield to see the vision becoming a reality.”
