Vuba Coat Anti Slip Chosen by Worcester University to Prevent Slips and Trips
Vuba Industrial Supplies secured another prestigious specification at a leading University for the anti slip properties of Vuba-Coat Anti Slip. According to the Workplace Health, Safety and Welfare Regulations 1992, floor surfaces must not be slippery so they put people’s safety at risk. Slips and trips account for a total of 35,000 incidents per year according to the HSE, which equates to one serious slip accident every three minutes. This was a major consideration when specifying a non slip flooring system to the new Science Building.
Vuba worked closely with the architect and main contractor to provide details of the official HSE test for slip resistance results for Vuba-Coat Anti Slip. After testing by The Pendulum Coefficient of Resistance, Vuba-Coat Anti Slip was regarded as having a low potential for slip even under wet conditions. This factor, combined with the excellent abrasion and chemical resistance properties associated with epoxy floor paints led to a specification for an area of 420m2; including laboratories, corridors, changing areas and entrance lobbies.
The installation of the non slip epoxy floor paint was carried out successfully over a one week period by the Vuba Contracting Division. A representative from Worcester University commented “The floor has performed well underfoot and we are very happy with the installation”.
