Ultra Tile used in the Renowned Millennium Gallery
The Millennium Gallery in Sheffield is now displaying a polished porcelain new tiled floor, fixed using Ultra Tile ProFlex SP.
The Millennium Gallery’s foyer area was recently refurbished. TTA member, Great Northern Tiling, secured the floor tiling contract and set to work.
The project posed many challenges including the requirement for sub-floor preparation and under floor heating – all whilst the gallery remained open to the public!
Great Northern Tiling has used Ultra Tile adhesives and grouts many times before. The company’s fixers have complete confidence and experience with the exceptional capabilities of Level IT one HDB, ProFlex SP and FlexJoint, as well as the rest of the Ultra Tile range.
To level and provide the base for the under floor heating, following the removal of the existing floor covering and previous leveller, Ultra Floor Level IT one HDB was applied.
Single part concrete levelling compound Ultra Floor Level IT one HDB has a working time of 20-30 minutes and will set within 2-3 hours. It can be applied at thicknesses from 3-50mm and a 25kg bag covers an optimum 5m² at 3mm. The product is protein and ammonia free, shrinkage compensated and polymer modified.
Suitable for use on most common substrates, including concrete, sand/cement screeds, flooring grade asphalt, floors with under floor heating and fixed timber floors, it can be applied by trowel or pump.
Ultra Tile meets the requirements of many tiling installations with ProFlex SP due to its extensive compatibility. ProFlex SP is a floor and wall tile adhesive that can be used on interior and exterior applications both in wet and dry conditions. The product is polymer modified and can be used in conjunction with under floor heating systems.
ProFlex SP has an application thickness of 3-20mm and is ready to take light foot traffic within 3 hours. On this project the adhesive in grey was used to fix 600 x 300 polished porcelain grey tiles.
The tiling was grouted by the team using Ultra Tile FlexJoint. Suitable for joint widths from 1mm to 12mm FlexJoint is simple to use and available in choice of colours, including grey. FlexJoint is specially formulated to provide a hygienic finish that is mould resistant and water repellent.
Due to the ease of use and performance qualities of Ultra Tile products, and the skills of the tilers involved this project actually completed ahead of schedule by four days!
The gallery’s foyer area now sparkles with elegance.
