SSP launches Astro Mat the portable artificial grass surface
Children’s play and sport surfacing company SSP Ltd has launched its new product; Astro Mat.
Astro Mats are designed to be a moveable surface for children’s play, safety and sport yet durable enough to withstand the rigours of day to day use. ‘We were constantly asked by our clients for a play surface that could be easily installed and picked up again so the area could be used for other applications’ said David Townsend of SSP Ltd, ‘and we have never found a solution that would be heavy duty enough to act as a permanent installation yet simple enough to dismantle and store. Astro Mats are exactly the product we have been looking for’.
The Astro Mat system was recently used as a soccer skills training surface at Tottenham Hotspur Football Club where it was installed onto the car park next to the White Hart Lane ground and used for skills training for the club’s youth academy and coaching sessions for children from the local community. Andy Rogers Tottenham’s Soccer Skills Operations Coordinator said ‘I was particularly pleased with the Astro Mat surface supplied by SSP. It played really well and is one of the best portable systems I’ve seen. We hope to use the surface further in conjunction with local schools for our soccer skill schools’.
Astro Mats are 0.9m x 2.25m with interlocking connectors and made from a dense pile artificial grass with integral underlay shockpad. The surface can be used either as a safety surface around play equipment or as an all weather play area or sports surface. The system can remain Insitu or be easily lifted, stored or moved. Astro Mats are in keeping with SSP’s environmental policy being a 75% recycled product.
