RootX Keeps Roots Out in Economical Way
Water-Lines Solutions’ latest product RootX is a wholly new form of root barrier system – a bio-barrier.
Two layers of geotextile sandwich a copper foil sheet to create an environmentally-friendly permeable barrier that releases an inert chemical trace¹ to which roots and shoots are aversive. It prevents penetration during the growing period, as well as at the end of the season when strong root growth occurs.
The result? Laboratory and greenhouse testing has already shown this to be an effective deterrent, even to invasive species.
Japanese Knotweed can be controlled economically. If the RootX barrier is deployed correctly, the soil does not need to be expensively transported and disposed of at a licensed tip. Using RootX, such contaminated areas can be completely sealed off and built over.
As long as the soil is not contaminated with particular chemicals, this barrier has a life expectancy well in excess of 50 years.
¹ The copper foil releases only minute quantities of the copper ion. These do not constitute an eco-system burden, or impact on groundwater.
