Roof-Pro help Nottingham University
Nottingham Trent University has just completed an innovative building services upgrade with the support of Roof-Pro Systems.
The university, at the heart of Nottingham city centre, has undertaken a regeneration programme that has seen the refurbishment to two of the universities most historic buildings - Arkwright and Newton.
The Newton building, renowned for being one of the tallest buildings in the city, has undergone a total fit out, including new lecture theatres and IT resource centre serviced by twelve roof mounted dry air coolers and 300mm flow and return pipes.
The refurbished roof, designed to a low weight bearing design, presented the consultants with a challenge with how to install the new services equipment without overloading the roof, so they turned to specialists Roof-Pro to come up with a solution.
Working to the projects specific design criteria, Roof-Pro developed a bespoke supports system utilising non penetrative support bases to dissipate the load to specific structural support points. This enabled the project team to support the services without any risk to the roof system whilst eliminating detailing and thermal bridges. The offsite fabrication and easy installation enabled the contractors to complete the program without interruption, providing a professional solution for a historic project.
