Polyroof Refurbishes Masonic Temple Roof

Polyroof supplies waterproofing for over 450 square metres of pitched roof at the Masonic Temple in Jersey, a Site of Special Interest that was built in 1864.

The temple is constructed of brick and cement with granite facings in a Corinthian style and is considered one of the most attractive buildings of its type throughout the United Kingdom.
The Committee of the Masonic Lodge was tasked with finding a waterproofing solution for the aged and leaking roof in addition to incorporating new insulation to improve its thermal performance. It was essential that the roofing system to be used met the stringent criteria for the refurbishment of Sites of Special Interest. Having previously specified Polyroof’s Elastex system for the refurbishment of the parapet walls and been impressed with the works, the committee turned to Polyroof for a solution.
The Protec System was put forward as an ideal solution that comfortably met the tough demands of the project. The system is BBA approved with a durability rating of at least 20 years and carries a 20 year manufacturer’s guarantee, giving the specifier the complete peace of mind that they were looking for. Its ability to be applied directly to approved high performance PUR insulation boards also allows the works to be carried out rapidly and efficiently with minimal disruption to the running of the building.
Due to the high importance that was given to the aesthetics of the building, the quality of the finished appearance was paramount – and Jersey Heritage was extremely satisfied with the results.
