Leyland Makes Its Mark at P&D Show
Leading trade paint brand Leyland led the way at the 2009 National Painting and Decorating Show with an eye-catching presence that lit up Coventry’s Ricoh Arena.
Never ones to do things by half, the Leyland team pulled out all the stops this year and ensured there was a whole host of activities to keep visitors entertained during the course of the two-day event.
Last year’s event witnessed the introduction of the popular Leyland Lovelies, but this year Leyland went not one, but two better by introducing FOUR Lovelies, who were all on hand to pose for photographs for the lucky visitors. With each of them representing an imaginative colour from the Leyland colour card, including Going Bananas and Pure Passion, there was no escaping the fact that Leyland truly is ‘Mad About Colour’.
This year has witnessed Leyland go from strength to strength and this was reflected in one of the most popular aspects of this year’s show, the Leyland Challenge. Hundreds of tough men and women proved they’ve got what it takes by stepping into the ring and putting themselves through the ultimate test of endurance – holding out paint cans for as long as possible! Jon Green and Scot Worrall were the triumphant contestants after the two-day event after both recording a time of 3 minutes 39 seconds. The duo each walked away with a pair of VIP hospitality tickets to a British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) round of their choice and an exclusive Leyland Racing jacket, while the six nearest challengers all picked up exclusive Leyland goodie bags.
Visitors to the Leyland stand were also given a taste of life in the fast lane in the form of leading BTCC driver Jonny Adam and his explosive Airwaves BMW car. Jonny was on hand throughout the day to speak to visitors and give them an exclusive tour of the ultimate driving machine, as well as what life is like as a professional racing car driver.
Leyland brand manager Nicki Hickman said: “It was a fantastic show for Leyland and the sheer amount of visitors to the stand shows what an impact our activities have had throughout the course of 2009. Branching out in the world of motorsport has helped to boost our brand awareness but it’s at shows like this where we are able to give a little something back to the core and loyal Leyland users. Instead of this show to round off our year in style, we’ve viewed it as the springboard for an even more successful year in 2010.”
