Knauf Insulation Stand to Provide Choice and Advice
At this year’s Ecobuild, Knauf Insulation reaffirms its position as the only manufacturer able to offer insulation solutions and unbiased advice across four different types of insulation for any application. For queries surrounding sustainability, new build, refurbishment, legislative requirements or calculation services, visitors to stand N720 will be able to gain reliable and expert guidance – including suggestions on sourcing the right products to meet the latest Building Regulations and all other green initiatives.
Knauf Insulation is the UK’s leading manufacturer of insulation products, and the only producer of four types of insulation: Earthwool®, encompassing glass and rock mineral wool with the revolutionary ECOSE® Technology, extruded polystyrene (XPS) under the Polyfoam® brand name and extruded polyethylene (XPE). This puts the company in a unique position to offer unbiased, sound advice on all areas of product application, whether it is for commercial, residential or refurbishment sectors.
2010 has seen the next step change in the Government’s drive towards zero carbon homes, with the Department for Communities and Local Government publishing the amendments to Approved Document L of the Building Regulations and Section 6 of Scotland’s Building Standards in April 2010, which came into force in October.
With these revisions imposing even higher thermal efficiencies and therefore an increased emphasis on how different materials can contribute to a building’s thermal performance at design stage, Knauf Insulation will be offering specifiers and housebuilders the chance to fully understand the products that offer the most effective and efficient fabric solutions.
Supporting this, Knauf Insulation has launched technical guides to cover all aspects of the updated Regulations for Part L1A, Part L1B and Section 6. These will be available from the stand, providing an invaluable tool of in-depth yet practical advice to aid adherence to the new Regulations, as well as bringing clarity to the changes and acting as a quick-reference manual for specifiers.
In addition to showcasing roofing solutions for commercial applications, the company will be displaying both residential new build and refurbishment applications that are compliant with Part L and also the new changes to the Code for Sustainable Homes. Furthermore, the Government’s newest scheme, the Green Deal, which is concerned with refurbishing the existing housing stock, presents even more opportunity for specifiers to tackle climate change and details of this proposal and suitable product solutions will be addressed on the stand.
Lydia Sharples, head of communications at Knauf Insulation comments: “As one of the main contributors to the thermal efficiency of a building, insulation has become a hot topic, driven by new legislation and revised Regulations. Knauf Insulation will therefore be displaying its ‘whole-house’ and commercial insulation solutions portfolio, giving visitors the choice on a range of products to suit every application, as well as providing expert and sound advice for any insulation query.”

Notes to editors:
Knauf Insulation is the UK’s leading manufacturer of insulation products, and the only producer of four types of insulation: Earthwool, encompassing glass and rock mineral wool with the revolutionary ECOSE® Technology, extruded polystyrene (XPS) under the Polyfoam® brand name and extruded polyethylene (XPE).
Knauf Insulation mineral wool products with ECOSE Technology are made with a formaldehyde-free binder based on rapidly renewable materials, instead of traditional petro-based chemicals. ECOSE Technology is up to 70 per cent less energy intensive than traditional binders. Complementing the new sustainability benefits, the patented ECOSE Technology also produces a ‘super-soft’ and easier to handle wool.
In the UK, the company employs around 500 people at its four manufacturing plants at St Helens, Queensferry, Cwmbran and Hartlepool. Knauf Insulation is part of the Knauf Group – a global corporation delivering products and services including: building materials and systems based on gypsum and gypsum-related products, thermal insulation, sound insulation and fire protection materials, limestone and lime products, chalk and cement related products and plant engineering.
