John Newton Membranes Refurbs Townhouse

John Newton Membranes help convert Victorian Townhouse basement in Monmouth, Wales, into a pleasant office area for the home owners.

This Victorian Town House had a comprehensive basement area which was saturated due to water ingress coming through the mortar joints of the existing flag stone floor.

The client realised that if the area was to be professionally waterproofed then the space could be reclaimed as a home office.

NSBC Contractor Protectahome Ltd was commissioned to install a robust and effective waterproofing solution. As water was coming through the wall/floor junction and through the flag stone floor, the original floor was removed and a new RC slab was deployed.

The mass of concrete was then able to move any water to the Newton Basedrain at the wall/floor junction. The Basedrain then moved the water to two Newton Titan Pumping Systems with battery backup protection for removal.

The vaulted areas were protected with Newton 508 mesh and direct rendered and from the spring of the vault, Newton 508 was utilised easily linked with Butyl tape with an independent framework which was dry-lined with a plasterboard finish.

The owners were able to utilise the basement area as a modern home office with the assurance of no future water ingress problems.

With a fully guaranteed water management system installed, all aspects of the design and installation are guaranteed by Protectahome Ltd.
