Press Room: Dulux Trade Enhances Vinyl Matt for Improved Performance and Sustainability

Dulux Trade Enhances Vinyl Matt for Improved Performance and Sustainability

Dulux Trade is further driving product innovation in the coatings industry, with the launch of its new, improved Vinyl Matt White. In a significant development for decorators and painting contractors, Dulux Trade has created a new formulation of its signature Vinyl Matt White, to deliver an even better finish and have less impact on the environment.

As well as offering appliers a high opacity, easy-to-apply solution, the reformulated product now delivers lower sheen levels and provides a flatter finish than its predecessor. This makes it easier for appliers to disguise uneven surfaces and achieve a high quality result for their customers.

Dulux Trade has also incorporated the technology and research behind its ground-breaking Ecosure range of coatings to make Vinyl Matt White better for the environment. This move is one of the latest developments in Step Towards Greener, the company’s sustainability programme.

To measure the sustainability credentials of the new Vinyl Matt, Dulux Trade used its Environmental Impact Analyser, a cradle to gate tool that looks at three areas – waste, water and carbon usage. The results confirmed that the new Dulux Trade Vinyl Matt White contains 15 per cent lower embodied carbon and has a 20 per cent reduction in water when compared to its predecessor.

“The latest improvements to Vinyl Matt White will make a real difference to professional decorators and painting contractors,” said Alex Briggs, Brand Manager for Dulux Trade Core. “As well as offering better performance characteristics, it helps appliers meet the sustainability requirements of their customers. The commercial and public sectors have demanded sustainable products for some time. With the updated formulation, appliers now have a solution, which is more environmentally friendly without compromising on performance.

“Dulux Trade is continuously exploring how it can improve its products to ensure they deliver what appliers and end users need. As such, the reformulation of Vinyl Matt White is the first step in improving the sustainability of the Dulux Trade core range, and is something we hope to roll out across the whole portfolio.”

Dulux Trade Vinyl Matt is ideal for most sealed interior wall and ceilings surfaces such as previously painted plaster and drywall, woodchip and blown vinyl wallcoverings. Alongside White, Dulux Trade Vinyl Matt is available in over 14,000 shades. The release of a reformulated Pure Brilliant White Vinyl Matt is expected later this year.
