Caro Flood Defence Systems protect the Globe Theatre
Caro Flood Defence Systems are pleased to be able to announce the completion of the installation of Flood Barriers at the site of the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford Upon Avon.
Caro FDS was one of a number of suppliers asked to offer their solution to the problem of protecting the 14th Century, Grade One Listed, actor’s accommodation cottages opposite the Globe Theatre, from the River Avon running alongside the theatre.
Due to the restrictions of the Listing, the use of our normal WaterWall and WaterDoor systems wasn’t possible – no external evidence of Flood Protection was permitted!
So, using the Caro Group resources, a novel one piece barrier was designed. This barrier required only the use of hidden wall and ground fixings and a specially commissioned rubber sealing system that was able to cope with the very rough brick/mortar finishes that could not be altered in any way!
We feel that this can be seen as more evidence of the specialised services and knowledge within the Caro Group – the barriers you can see in the photographs were manufactured in the Caro foundry, Maybrey Reliance Foundry, from designs created by Caro FDS staff.
