British Recycled Products release Hebden 40

Use the environmentally friendly Hebden 40 to add value to your property

Creating an extra off-road parking space can add thousands to the value of a property, and even clinch a sale, so the Hebden 40 'ecopavers' from British Recycled Products provide the simple, sustainable solution with no need for planning permission.

The National Association of Estate Agents have been quoted to suggest that off-road parking can add as much as 10% to the value of a home*. Similarly, the Nationwide survey, 'What Adds Value To Your Home?' suggested that parking facilities could add 6.5% back in 2006 which is sure to have increased in recent years. On a £150,000 property, therefore, turning a piece of garden into a parking space could add between £9,750 and £15,000 to the value, especially in urban and densely populated locations.

Hebden 40 is manufactured in the UK from 100% British recycled plastic that would otherwise go to landfill. The rigid Hebden 40 ecopavers clip together to create grid effect hard-standing to any dimension for car parking or pathways, which can be filled with gravel or seeded for grass to grow through. One of the key benefits of Hebden 40, however, is that no planning permission is normally required, despite new regulations which came into effect in October 2008 to prevent surface water and flooding.

The Environment Agency document, 'Guidance on the permeable surfacing of front gardens' states: “From 1st October 2008 the permitted development rights that allow householders to pave their front garden for hard-standing without planning permission have changed. Planning permission is now required to lay traditional impermeable driveways that allow uncontrolled run-off of rainwater from front gardens onto roads, because this can contribute to flooding and pollution of watercourses. If a new driveway or parking area is constructed using permeable surfaces such as permeable paving, porous asphalt or gravel, or if the water is otherwise able to soak into the ground you will not require planning permission. The new rules will also apply where existing hardstandings are being replaced. The new rules apply to hard surfaces exceeding 5 square metres in area.”

Each 33cmx33cm (foot square) Hebden 40 ecopaver retails at around £1.65 and can be self-installed, so enough for a standard parking space of 15ft by 8ft costs under £200. For more information, stockists and online orders visit the website, http://www.hebden40.co.uk or telephone 0845 050 8415.
